Description:

Live music will travel through the streets of Tempe and Phoenix this Friday as part of Valley Metro’s celebration of Make Music Day. Valley Metro is planning free performances on light rail from local musicians from Rosie’s House, who are bound to lift your spirits.
On Make Music Day, the citizens of a city or country are allowed and urged to play music outside in their neighborhoods or in public spaces and parks. It was first celebrated on the summer solstice in Paris in 1982. Today, it is celebrated in 120 countries around the world.
Here is the schedule of events for Friday, June 21:
From 7 to 8:30 a.m., on the Roosevelt Light Rail platform, riders can enjoy the Brazilian percussion beats of the ensemble Samba de Calvo, whose members include Rosie’s House program coordinator Israel Reyes and other members of the staff.
From 4 to 5:30 p.m., Rosie’s House staff cellist Carlito Stewart and his student Izzi Carrizosa, age 17, will perform on the Washington route. Their performance will include fun opportunities to sing along with tunes like “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” for riders on route to the Diamondbacks home game.
