"Neo-Chicanismo"
In 1999 Marilyn Szabo was awarded a grant from the Phoenix Arts Commission to photograph iconic Chicano artists active in the Chicano Art Movement. Since completing the initial project, Szabo has expanded the scope of interest to include portraits of a wide range of individuals and groups representative of the Latino community.


ABOUT

A creative art studio featuring the work of Marilyn Szabo . Marilyn Szabo is a veteran photographer who has been capturing striking imagery fueled by her love of history and photography for over twenty five years. Her photography explores a variety of diverse subjects including architecture, landscape, and people, creating stunning and intimate works, preferring to work in series. Szabo was traditionally trained in photography, receiving her BA from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her artwork has been featured in numerous publications including Black and White, Focus, Sun Magazine and most recently Java Magazine. Her work can be found in many public and private collections throughout the United States, as well as receiving a national literary magazine, awarded by Alligator Juniper in 2010 National Photography Award an the cover. She has extensively exhibited her artwork nationally and internationally while garnering numerous awards and grants.
