Happening Now / Artist Activity

Currently working on my graduation show as well as a secondary body of work for an exhibition next year that will (hopefully) be showing in LA.

ABOUT

My work is modernist and semi-surreal in nature, the power of the mind made physical. Recurring themes are mysticism, fashion, globalisation, mental health and human connections. I am inspired by art nouveau, ancient religious paintings (from around the world), movies, graphic novels and surrealist paintings. My mediums change as the concept does but my works are painted on flat surfaces. The paintings explore the glue of culture, the myths and ideas that we have told ourselves in order to function. Telling stories of growth, both personal and cultural, and analyzing what allowed human beings to grow.

This series explores the human psyche and it's amazing ability to create narrative in chaos. Showing how humans create imaginary connections and relationships that have allowed us to find meaning beyond survival. Cultural, parental and personal narratives will sink into our thoughts and effect on how we navigate our lives. The saying “You are wherever your butt sits” is a solid representation of how humans are products of their environment. I shine on how this environment was made and how it is viewed.
